There is a core group of people that keep re-Cycles running. Most have been on board for at least five years, and a few go back to our humble beginnings over ten years ago! The Head Mechanics are the ones you'll meet running the shifts at the shop, and most do so after working a full 9-5 job. Hidden behind the scenes are our support staff, whose duties are just as important.
George Foureizos- Head Mechanic. George returned to re-Cycles after we escaped our noisy old basement shop, and we're happy to have him back. He was with us in the early days when he, Lloyd, and Rob WERE re-Cycles.
Mark Rehder - Director, Head Mechanic, Webmaster. Mark joined in 2001 and set about trying to organize a growing and rather messy shop. When Lloyd moved on in 2002 Mark assumed responsibility for poking and prodding the group in some sort of coherent direction, along with coordinating shop activities. He can be easily influenced by offerings of chocolate.
Jeff Noakes - Head Mechanic. Jeff knows more about obscure and obsolete bikes and parts than any of us. He is the one most likely to have Fig Newtons on hand.
Mike Bowler - Head Mechanic. Among his many talents, Mike brews his own beer. We never see any of it at the shop, but that's probably a good thing.
Berry Debruijn - Head Mechanic. Berry runs marathons, and is therefore probably the most fit member of the group. And he is also by far the most Dutch.
Paul Wylie - Head Mechanic. Paul started as a regular volunteer, and wormed his way (or was badgered) into becoming an HM. Paul has turned his volunteer experience into a fulltime job, running the daytime program for our partner organization, Cycle Salvation.
Chris Wells - Head Mechanic. Chris also answers all the general email inquiries, and rides his motorcycle when his bicycle just isn't fast enough.
Doug Yuill - Head Mechanic. Doug is also a member of the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa (EVCO), and perhaps the first person in Ottawa to own a velomobile!
Michael Van Dyk - Head Mechanic. Also known as Quiet Mike, since we now have two Mikes on staff and it's hard keeping track of them.
Derek Roach - Head Mechanic. Derek is the newest addition to the HM line-up, but has been with re-Cycles for quite a while. We would suggest being nice to him, because he's in the military and probably knows how to use Large Weapons.
Lisa Routhier - Statistics and Records Keeper, Scheduling. Lisa came to us with a strong background in cycling advocacy, having previously volunteered with Citizens for Safe Cycling. She is the one most likely to have a bike repair stand in her kitchen.
Melinda Ainsworth-Roy - Volunteer Co-ordinator. Melinda is the newest addition to our core staff, and is also our first volunteer co-ordinator. Not that our vols. were necessarily uncoordinated, but now Melinda is definitely whipping them into shape.
Juergen Weichert - Web Advisor. As a professional website designer Juergen counsels us on web issues. And being an advocate of power-assist he is the one most likely to have a motor on one of his many bikes.
Richard Guy Briggs - Website host. Richard also hosts our email list (along with many others), in addition to supplying webspace for cycling and Green organizations. He is the one most likely to tow a Hammond organ by pedal power.
Rob Galdins - Head Mechanic.
Alex Magdzinski - Head Mechanic.
