City of Ottawa's Pesticide
Reports:
Health, Recreation and
Social Services Committee (HRSS) - Oct. 20, 2005
Meeting (Agenda 26 --
includes disposition and minutes) concerning a pesticide bylaw: http://ottawa.ca/cgi-bin/docs.pl?Elist=5369&lang=en
The City's latest sportsfields
policy is here: http://ottawa.ca/calendar/ottawa/citycouncil/occ/2005/11-30/hrss/ACS2005-PWS-SOP-0009.htm
There was also a huge report
last May 5th, to HRSS, noting the abysmal results of
the education campaign (that was designed originally
by someone who used to be employed by the tobacco
industry) and report of the pesticide conference last
spring see: http://ottawa.ca/calendar/ottawa/citycouncil/hrssc/2005/05-05/ACS2005-PGM-POL-0029%20English.htm
There was a report of pesticide
contamination of the Rideau River and tributaries
from 2003 that was never put on the web, that showed
higher levels of contamination - our summary: http://www.flora.org/healthyottawa/pesticidereportkeypoints.htm
The pesticide debate has been
going on for years, and this initiative harkens back
to 2002 when the Council decided not to have a bylaw,
but to have voluntary reduction targets and a
pesticide education campaign. see: http://ottawa.ca/cgi-bin/docs.pl?Elist=2215&lang=en

pesticides on the City's website if one searches by clicking here
