Developments:
1
February 2005: A meeting took place with urban planning
(building) officials from the Aylmer, Hull and Gatineau Sectors
as well as an official from the Gatineau regulations department.
Archibio representatives were there (Michel
Bergeron, Pascal Morel) along
with Chantal and Jay. This meeting appears to have been smoke
in our eyes because even with the support of the key building
officials from different Gatineau sectors, the decision was
made to explicitly ban straw bale structures.

May 2005:
Many straw bale supporters attended the public consultation
to loudly voice our disagreement with actions Gatineau is
taking on straw bale structures. Our message was heard. The
counsellor Marc Bureau promised to present a resolution to
the Municipal Council asking to change section 23 to remove
the prohibition and simply require the seal of an architect
or engineer on plans in order to obtain a permit to construct
a structure insulated with straw.
