STOP ISRAEL’S MASSACRE IN GAZA!

Wounded boy

RALLY AND MARCH
PARLIAMENT HILL, OTTAWA
1PM, SATURDAY, JAN 10, 2009

PROTEST CANADIAN COMPLICITY!

Join us this Saturday to demand that the Canadian government call for an immediate halt to Israel's attacks, an end to the siege of Gaza, and the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid!   We must denounce the Canadian government's ongoing and unconditional support of Israel’s massacre in Gaza.

THE WORLD SAYS END THE SIEGE ON GAZA NOW!   PROVIDE HUMANITARIAN RELIEF!

Israel has long conducted a relentless siege against Gaza, depriving 1.5 million civilians of food, water, medical supplies, and energy to heat their homes.  This humanitarian crisis is now devastating with Israel's aerial bombardment and ground offensive. At least 540 Palestinians have been killed and thousands injured in the single largest massacre in Gaza since Israel illegally occupied the area in 1967.

DENOUNCE THE MASSACRE OF PALESTINIAN CIVILIANS AND PRESS FOR AN IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE

Save GazaLast Saturday, thousands demonstrated across Canada and around the world, including 5,000 in Ottawa in the largest Palestine solidarity demonstrations in decades. This coming Saturday, people across the globe will return to the streets in internationally coordinated demonstrations against the Israeli onslaught.  Please join us!

NO TO WAR ON IRAN

Don't nuke IranHARPER SPEAK OUT: NO TO U.S. WAR ON IRAN!
BREAK THE SILENCE!  NO MORE DISASTROUS WARS!

Experts are convinced that the Bush Government is working hard to find a pretext for war.  See Recent Article.  Such a move would violate international law as did the invasion of Iraq.  And an attack by the U.S. would further destabilize the area.

Yet the Harper government has not taken a stand against war with Iran.  As noted by Murry Dobbin, Harper's history of support for whatever the U.S. wants to do makes us fear that he will support an invasion of Iran.

WE MUST SPEAK UP AND TELL HARPER TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST A WAR THAT WOULD BE ANOTHER CATASTROPHE!

In case of an attack on Iran:

Emergency Rally at the U.S. Embassy at 5pm the day of the attack, unless the attack is after 5 pm EDT, in which case we will meet the following day at 5pm. (map)

ZUCCHINI CAMPAIGN

zucchiniWe sent zucchinis to War Minister O'Connor one year ago because children were starving in Afghanistan.

On September 5, 2006, the respected Senlis Council released a report that stated children are starving in Afghanistan. Foreign military expenditures in that country outpace development and reconstruction spending by 900% .

Two years later, the crisis deepens, with no action on starvation!

In an August, 2007 report, the Senlis Council slams the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) for failing to answer key questions about where and why aid that’s been promised has not appeared on the ground in Afghanistan.

So now is the time to send a Zucchini to Canada's New War Minister, Peter MacKay.   Here's how!

This campaign was initiated by Homes Not Bombs.  Read the full story here.

COUNTER-RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGN

The military has launched a new recruitment campaign to sign up youth needed in Afghanistan.  This campaign is called Operation Connection.  In General Hillier's words: "...we're moving from a passive approach on recruiting where essentially we sat around waiting for you to come to us to a more active and aggressive one..."

To help young people withstand this pressure, ACT for the Earth has launched a counter-recruitment campaign called Operation Objection. Check it out and be sure to tell all concerned parents and young people you know about the website:  http://operationobjection.org.

END ISRAEL'S ASSAULT ON GAZA AND LEBANON
NOWAR-PAIX endorses the Canadian Peace Alliance statement on Israel's assault on Gaza and Lebanon. We demand that the government of Canada call for an immediate end to the Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Gaza. This escalating conflict may destabilize the entire region and result in a larger war. Israel's actions have now killed nine Canadians and hundreds more Lebanese and Palestinians. Stephen Harper's refusal to condemn these attacks is shameful.

NO PEACE WITHOUT JUSTICE!

“There will be no substantive and permanent peace for any peoples in this troubled region as long as Israel is violating key U.N. resolutions, official American policy and the international "road map" for peace by occupying Arab lands and oppressing the Palestinians.” Former US President Jimmy Carter, August 1st, 2006

See photos from Ottawa Rallies for Lebanon and Palestine.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO BUILD FOR FUTURE ACTIONS--

With Harper on the loose at 24 Sussex, the BAD things happening under Martin will get even WORSE. Harper and Body Bags

  • More military spending!
  • More commitment to supporting U.S. wars of aggression in Afghanistan, Haiti, Middle East, Iraq!
  • More deep integration with US security!
  • More outrageous support for US torture and "special rendition."
(We are currently defending Guantanamo Bay when the rest of the world tells the US to close it!)
