Discussion group for Networking Community Networks
While this discussion group was formed to try to provide a means of
communication between the technical staff and volunteers in the
community minded organizations within Ottawa, it's focus and audience
has changed over time. This group should be used for any discussions
relating to community software, most specifically software licensed
with the GNU Public Licence ( [1]CopyLeft), the Artistic license, or
[2]Open Source style licenses which allow for community based support
and development of software.
Appropriate discussions:
* Discussions of the merits of various liberating software licenses.
* Discussions of why software should be liberated in the first
place.
* Support of community software: Technical help, promotion, etc
It should be noted that some of the more restrictive (repressive)
software licenses, and the companies that promote them, will be
mentioned from time to time. If you feel uncomfortable hearing these
companies mentioned in a negative light, this might not be the
appropriate group for you.
If you are looking to help with the server software running at
FLORA.ORG, then the [3]FLORA.ORG design forum is the best place to go.
Russell McOrmond keeps a list of links related to [4]Free
Software/Open Source computing which you might find useful.
