Well it pisses me off anyway...
Microsoft has made it easy to integrate some nifty GUI technologies into
your products, and this is great if you like these nifty GUI technologies...
Well, I am selling a product that has very little to do with the internet,
in fact nothing at all... We made good use of a really cool tool bar that
uses large graphics called a CoolBar. Turns out this "Cool Bar" is only on
your system if you installed Internet Explorer 4.x.
I tracked down the necessary components to a small dll called comctl32.dll.
Well, the rule is... your going to love this... if you want any of this
nifty technology in your application, you have to ship IE 4.x with it!
I shipped 7 packages last week, and I have 11 more going out tomorrow. It
is way too late for a re-design, so I am going to have to force my
customers to install IE 4.x! I hate it! The devil is in the details...
developers beware and watch yourself ;-(
