isnt there an SMTP timeout parameter that can be lowered on the receiving end? there is one for email client software... === begin forwarded message === Date: Wed, 12 Mar 2003 19:31:36 -0500 (EST) From: Russell McOrmond <russell@flora.ca> To: status@flora.org Subject: SMTP from tomts*.bellnexxia.net Some problem exists within the Bellnexxia network which is causing mail from that network to be properly delivered. A mail connection is opened, and it eventually just times out. Since there are large numbers of these connections left open, a huge number of resources were being tied up on the main mail.flora.ca server. I have had to firewall off connections to port 25 (SMTP) from that network to mail.flora.ca temporarily as they clear out the problem.
