There is a listing of circumstances under which the organization accepts violence or vandalism at: http://www.greenfyre.org/SIGN/mandate.html One of the URLs you provided. I have problems with the Acts of Self-defence exemption. I believe I have heard almost the exact same wording to justify wars. I also have problems with points 3-6 under the vandalism exceptions. I don't have a problem with FLORA visibly supporting non-violence in politics, nor with FLORA not offering communication services to anyone advocating violence. I don't see that as being substantially different than earlier decisions not to offer space to something like an auto club or a pro-smoking group. How far will you go with this though? For organizations currently on FLORA that are neutral on the topic, will you require them to support this move? Or is it enough that they do not advocate violent change? > In the future, a statement about non-violence will become part of the > FLORA FAQ, and groups that can't make such a statement won't be elegable > for sponsorship. I guess that partly answers my question. For me personally, not that I have been that active as a volunteer on FLORA of late, I don't have a problem making a statement supporting non-violence. I won't make a statement saying that I specifically support or do not support SIGN though. sph Where the panorama looks like Mars Where the belladonna looks like stars --- John Cooper Clarke sandrap@flora.org -- http://www.flora.org/sandra/
