Background

The firstjustice mailing list was given life in October, 2003. The list was created by members of the Justice Ministry network of First United Church (Ottawa), in order to develop community and share ideas, issues, and resources among justice-seeking individuals who are members or friends of the First congregation.

All are welcome to participate in firstjustice (and in justice-making activities that may arise from such participation).

Etiquette

Please remember, when posting to the list, that your e-mail message is being widely distributed among subscribers to this list. Some guidelines to follow:

DO NOT distribute copyrighted information without the express permission of the copyright holder. All information distributed through this list, unless otherwise noted, is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike License Canada. For more information see the note at the bottom of this page.

DO NOT send attachments. Files can be uploaded to the ATO firstjustice site, and referenced in an e-mail.

Consider carefully whether a discussion is public or private. If a particular discussion appears to have become a private conversation, continue it by personal e-mail or moving the discussion to the ATO firstjustice site (linked above).

When going on holidays, be sure to unsubscribe from the list, so that your automated vacation ("Out of Office") message is not forwarded to everyone on the list in response to every message.

Joining the List

To begin participating in firstjustice, send a message from your regular e-mail client using the e-mail address you wish to have subscribed to majordomo@flora.org. In the body of the e-mail, type subscribe firstjustice.

The list program will send you an e-mail seeking confirmation of your subscription. Reply to the message, deleting everything in the original message EXCEPT the line that begins 'auth xxxxxxxxx subscribe ....'. Remember to remove any symbols that your mail program inserts to quote in a reply.

Leaving the List

To unsubscribe from the firstjustice list, send an e-mail message from the e-mail account you wish to have removed from the list to majordomo@flora.org. In the body of the e-mail, type unsubscribe firstjustice.
