973 SYSTEMIC YEAST INFECTION
I am the 41 year old man who asked about the food elimination diet.
Thanks
for your responses. They helped me understand that I would feel worse
before
better. I am beginning to feel better. Now I am to take nistatin for
systemic yeast infection. Do you have any advice re: how I should
expect to
feel, and the pros and cons of this kind of treatment.

ANSWER BY NANCY APPLETON, PHD

For some people nystatin can be a problem. Before you use that drug,
you might try caprylic acid (400 mg per tab) starting with 1 tab per
day getting up to 4 tabs., a good dose of acidolpholis (nonmilk base),
p'audarco tea and lots of raw garlic and onion. These can be obtained
at a health food store. Do this for one month with a diet of no fruit,
sugar, alcohol, wheat, yeast or vinegar.
